There are families who I work with that are just downright refreshing.

They don't run from who they know their family to be...

They embrace the awkwardness, or the discomfort, or the lack of "Pinterest-worthy" perfection.

And it gives me such freedom.

For this particular photo shoot, I made sure to let the boys know that since I normally work with little kids, I was bound to accidentallytreat them like 4 year olds at some point.

But it turns out, they didn't mind at all. :)

Paul and Sarah, thank you SO much for showing up wholeheartedly with your family and giving me such creative freedom with your photos. It was so fun to catch up after so many years and I'm so grateful for the chance to work with you again! :)

Sometimes it's all a blur.

Each day. Each moment.

The seasons of your children's lives.

The days are long, and the years are short... but remembering to stop and catch them before they slip through your fingers is hard.

Oftentimes my photo shoots with families reflect the crazy whirlwinds of their lives.

With the kids leading the way, we move from one moment to another so quickly that I often wonder, "Did I catch that? Did time stand still long enough to grab that moment?"

Only when I get home and begin looking through the images do I get the satisfaction of knowing which little moments will be remembered.

It's usually the different perspectives that blow me away. Moments that don't last long in real life feel so different when they're frozen in time.

But it's all there. The looks and glances and stances and gestures seem so oddly familiar when they're slowed down.

Even if it IS just a moment in time.

Elizabeth and Erik... we did it again! I cannot WAIT for you to see all the beautiful images we captured of your little family!! It's such a privilege to work with you year after year and I'm so grateful I get a front row seat to see your boys grow up! Much love... <3
