Melissa and Martin

There aren’t enough exclamation points or heart emojis to describe this day.

Melissa is a dear friend whose connection to my family goes back over a decade. When she asked me to be there on her wedding day I couldn’t help but make an exception to my “no more weddings” rule. And really, it was the easiest yes!!

Peace and calm followed Martin around wherever he went… and his surprised reaction to his lovely bride warmed ALL OF US despite the bitter cold.

With my own wedding being in March years ago, I’m very partial to winter weddings. The SNOW the TREEES the SHAWLS! It was all breathtaking.

Each of these in-between moments makes me smile so much. The inside jokes, the quiet stillness, the joy that infuses each memory.

Weddings bring out every possible emotion you can feel. Anxiety, expectation, hope, relief, joy…

And even sorrow and longing.

But at the end of the day, no matter what the emotions… you get to experience them together. And that’s the most important part.

Mel and Martin - what a LOVELY DAY! I’m overjoyed that you are together and that your day was one of beauty and love and joy. Sending so much happiness and joy your way! Love you both!!

Jennifer and Ken

I don’t really photograph weddings anymore. But when my dear family friend asked if I could make an exception, I was willing to move heaven and earth to make it work. You see, Jennifer taught me violin for quite a few years as I was growing up, and the moments of growth, challenge, friendship, and care that I got to experience with her every week have helped make me who I am today.

It was a deep honor to photograph her and Ken’s love. While we took SO many colorful posed and smiling-at-the-camera photos, I couldn’t help but adore this series of black and white snapshots behind-the-posed-scenes.

For me, this really captured the essence of their day.

It’s not often that I get to photograph brides and grooms with their grandkids. What a lovely treat!

I love when couples decide to host their ceremony in locations that are special and unique. How lovely to have it in the home of a dear friend!

I ADORE bubbles. They are delightful no matter what age you are!! Everyone should have bubbles at their weddings!

Jennifer and Ken, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your intimate day! It was an honor to witness your joy and care for one another and I wish you a lifetime of happiness. I promise you’ll get many more (and in color) photos soon! ;)
