Introducing: Sajan Paul Mohinani

In a few weeks, I’m officially off of maternity leave, so I decided that I might as well show you what I’ve been up to these days. :)

Mostly? Soaking in this sweet baby boy. Sajan Paul made his appearance on Labor Day - September 7th, and we’re so so grateful he’s ours.

Since we didn’t find out the gender of this baby (or the one before!), it was such a fun surprise to discover that he was a boy! (Now we have one of each and my organized brain is delightfully happy.)

Sajan (pronounced “SAW-juhn”) means “Beloved” or “Cherished” in Hindi - a tribute to my husband’s biracial heritage, and a name we chose because Sajan is the firstborn grandson with the Mohinani last name. His middle name, Paul, is a tribute to my father who passed away in 2016.

Labor and delivery were swift and uncomplicated, and recovery has been a breeze compared to my first! But seriously, pushing out a baby is no joke and I’m amazed at the strength that mamas have to do such a beautiful and HARD thing!

Despite Covid making things extra complicated, we’ve been overwhelmed with food and gifts and love from our friends and fam - even from a distance. I don’t know what we’d do without them!

And even though I’m getting less sleep now, I’m so relieved to wave goodbye to gestational diabetes and constant nausea! Yay for the baby being on the outside!

And now… to convince his older sister that he’s sticking around for a long time… :)
