Poor Thunder Family | In Home Family Photographer

Being invited into someone's home for a photo session is a special thing.

It's almost sacred.

To see the nooks and crannies they inhabit on a daily basis....

And to be given permission to invade and capture the comforts of their safe place.

I always feel as though I'm seeing a family for real. For who they really are.

Where they live, where they cry, where they laugh and snuggle, and where they make plans and dream about the future.

It's both a privilege and a honor.

Jesse and Elisa, thank you so much for letting me come by your adorable little home to photograph your sweet munchkin!! Ethel is precious and you are so blessed to be her parents. Thanks for inviting me into your home and for showing me how you live and love together! Much love! <3

Samaratunga Twins | Lifestyle Kansas City Photographer

I don't often photograph seniors...

In fact, I usually refer them to other amazing senior photographers in the area...

ut when you've been photographing a family for a long time, you make exceptions. :)

I photographed Brooke and Melinda's older brother, Nath, in 2013... and apparently his little sister twins have been excited about their turn ever since!

Nath, Brooke, and Melinda's parents are from Sri Lanka, which is just a hop, skip, and a jump from India! (Where my awesome father-in-law is from!)

We had a lovely and rich conversation about culture, tradition, multi-cultural marriages, and traveling.

Both these girls are already world travelers - having been back to Sri Lanka many times with their family. So jealous!

And of course, in beautiful Asian fashion...

They even invited me over for dinner. :)

Brooke and Melinda, I was so bummed when we couldn't do dinner together with your family! Next time Sunil and I are up, we'd love to hang out with you. :) Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph your beautiful faces and I can't wait for all the exciting things that are in your bright futures!
